Immortal pathogens are a common cause of eye disease

Carolyn Merchant Blog 1 0

Chlamydia species and H-pylori have been linked to ocular surface disorders, glaucoma, and retinal disease. Chlamydia trachoma is the leading cause of blindness in the world. Chlamydia psittacosis can cause MALT lymphoma in the eye, Waldenstrom syndrome, and ocular melanoma. Toxoplasmosis has been linked to retinal disease and blinding. Many eye diseases are described as “itis”, meaning inflammation in a specific part of the eye, without understanding pathogens are capable of causing the inflammation and the disease or syndrome (more…..

Gastrointestinal pathogens and chronic disease

Carolyn Merchant Blog 0 0

Chlamydia pathogens gain entry into the intestinal tract via sinus drainage and lung mucous; and find favorable host tissue along the intestinal tract. H-pylori is an immortal intestinal pathogen, which attacks epithelium, then burrows into and attaches to collagen, creating a portal through which other pathogens gain entry. Common parasitic infections begin as an intestinal infection (giardia, cryptosporidiosis, and/or worms), attach to the intestinal wall, block absorption of nutrition, and compete for nutrition. Pathogens and parasites can migrate from the…..

Intestinal worms can be transmitted from animals and cause human disease

Carolyn Merchant Blog 1 0

Today, patients and doctors try to deny the existence of worms, and the role of worms in chronic disease. Hippocrates understood people got intestinal worms, and patients felt better after expelling the worms. Veterinarians know animals get worms, and animals are treated for worms. Veterinarians know pets and animals transmit worms to people; and intestinal worms come in many different pathogenic forms. A live blood morphologist reported to us more than 50% of patients with pets showed evidence of pinworms…..

Stomach and eye are related

Carolyn Merchant Blog 1 0

Gastrointestinal disease and eye disease are common co-morbid conditions; yet, both gastroenterology and ophthalmology seem to have forgotten the connection between the stomach and eye. Gastroenterology knew fifty years ago that intestinal pathogens had extra-intestinal effects in the body, including in the eye. Today, neither gastroenterology nor ophthalmology seems to recognize nor acknowledge the common root causes of stomach diseases and eye diseases.
