Chlamydia psittacosis is a dangerous pathogen that can cause many chronic diseases

Carolyn Merchant Blog 0 0

Chlamydia psittaci is a dangerous bird pathogen, which is widespread in animals and humans. Domestic and wild birds are the primary reservoir for chlamydia psittaci (bird chlamydia—psittacosis). Birds can infect cats, dogs, rodents, tortoises, horses, pigs, and other livestock; and the pathogen is then readily transmissible to people. Chlamydia psittaci can mix in co-infected animals, to generate new serovars.   Psittacosis was shown in 50% of patients who had contact with birds; and can be acquired from infected animals, outdoor…..

Immortal pathogens from animals and people can cause numerous eye diseases

Carolyn Merchant Blog 0 0

Chlamydia species, h-pylori and toxoplasmosis can migrate or metastasize from one part of the eye to another part of the eye. More than 25 scientific articles have “associated” chlamydia and H-pylori to glaucoma, and the severity of glaucoma has been “associated” with high chlamydia titers. Iris disintegration has been “associated” with toxoplasmosis, causing pigment-dispersion glaucoma. Yet, the Atlas of Glaucoma (2014) failed to mention chlamydia, H-pylori, or other immortal pathogens, in the discussion of glaucoma.   Atlas of CLINICAL OPHTHALMOLOGY…..

Immortal pathogens are a common cause of eye disease

Carolyn Merchant Blog 1 0

Chlamydia species and H-pylori have been linked to ocular surface disorders, glaucoma, and retinal disease. Chlamydia trachoma is the leading cause of blindness in the world. Chlamydia psittacosis can cause MALT lymphoma in the eye, Waldenstrom syndrome, and ocular melanoma. Toxoplasmosis has been linked to retinal disease and blinding. Many eye diseases are described as “itis”, meaning inflammation in a specific part of the eye, without understanding pathogens are capable of causing the inflammation and the disease or syndrome (more…..

Infectious pathogens will emerge as the cause of many common eye diseases

Carolyn Merchant Blog 0 0

Famous impressionist painters suffered vision impairment and loss, which may have inspired the impressionist movement. Monet had well-documented vision problems. Degas lost central vision in one eye, in his thirties; and in the other eye in his fifties. Cassatt was diabetic, suffered from diabetic retinopathy and cataracts, and underwent multiple operations on her eyes. She reported her vision becoming dimmer, but continued to paint with oils using more vibrant colors. DuMaurier had retinal problems and was blind in his left…..

90% of PID is caused by chlamydia trachoma

Carolyn Merchant Blog 0 0

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is an infection in the female reproductive organs and pelvis; which causes inflammation, scarring, pain, and infertility. In 90% of cases, PID is caused by chlamydia trachoma. Trachoma can also cause endometriosis, a painful condition in which the tissue lining the uterus grows outside the uterus. As trachoma spreads, it causes inflammation, scarring, inclusion cysts, and a sticky environment, which hampers the proper release of an egg from the ovaries, and implantation of a fertilized egg…..

Chlamydia trachoma causes reproductive diseases and chronic diseases in women and men

Carolyn Merchant Blog 0 0

Chlamydia trachoma is the most common sexually transmitted disease, with 92,000,000 new cases diagnosed each year. Chlamydia trachoma infects the reproductive tract and can spread to other organs and parts of the body, including the urethra, cervix, mouth, rectum, and kidney, in women; and the urethra, prostate, mouth, rectum, and kidney, in men.   Once infected, trachoma may act differently in women and men, symptoms can change over time, and the infection may become asymptomatic as it evolves into a…..

Diagnosis of immortal pathogens can give new hope

Carolyn Merchant Blog 1 0

A 35 year-old woman consulted Dr. Merchant, two years after being diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa; and being told she would be blind in five years. She had difficulty with daytime driving and seeing in a dimly lit room; and her contrast sensitivity test, which is a sensitive test for functional vision, was abnormal. Her laboratory testing was positive for psittacosis and H-pylori. As she was treated for the pathogens, her vision began to improve; after two months of treatment, her…..
