Finnish military recruits who tested positive for chlamydia pneumonia were studied for 6-12 months. Persistent chlamydia pneumonia antibodies were found to be a significant risk factor for being overweight. Toxoplasmosis has also been “associated” with obesity, anorexia, and pancreatitis. Diagnosis of infectious pathogens and treatment of the pathogens diagnosed is warranted in obese and overweight patients.
