Doctors observe, document, test, and name diseases; and rarely go beyond their training to diagnose a root cause of chronic disease. Many chronic diseases are a description of symptoms and findings; therefore, treatment is symptomatic. If the doctor tries to explore new means of diagnosis, to find a root cause, the doctor may be blocked by employers, insurance companies or Medicare. A syndrome is a description of a constellation of symptoms, often named after a doctor who first described the disease, before modern technology was available to find a root cause. All chronic diseases, and any disease named after a doctor should be reexamined with modern technology to identify the root cause, to allow medicine to move beyond a description of the symptoms.
