Our sympathy goes out to our many friends in El Paso, many of whom were at the Walmart, at the time of the shooting.
Starting in the 1980’s, in the U.S., the number of mass shootings rose significantly, by decade, in tandem with the introduction and mass dispensing of SSRI drugs for depression. Today, five SSRI drugs top of the list of the most violence-inducing drugs sold—Prozac, Paxil, Luvox, Effexor, and Pristiq. SSRI drugs induce suicidal ideation and suicide, and homicidal ideation and homicide; and the greatest risk is when starting, stopping, increasing, or changing SSRI drugs. The FDA documented SSRI drugs caused almost 15,000 violent acts, between 2004 and 2012; and an SSRI-patient was 800 times more likely to be involved in violence toward self or others. Virtually every mass shooter in the U.S. was starting, stopping, increasing, or changing SSRI drugs, at the time of the shooting.
Mass shootings are a failure of psychiatry and psychiatric drugs! Mental illness is a symptom of medical illness! SSRI drugs are violence-inducing drugs, cause widespread harm from violence, and some SSRI-patients have used assault weapons to carry out mass shootings. Doctors who prescribe SSRI drugs must be knowledgeable of the risk; and be responsible for warning of the risk of suicide, violence toward others, and homicide.
