Pfizer halted the sale of Chantix, a smoking cessation drug approved by the FDA in 2006, due high levels of carcinogens found in some of the pills. Chantix is also number one on the list of the “violent five”—the top five most violence inducing drugs. Chantix was reported in 2015 to be 18 times more likely to result in violence toward self and others.
Violence toward self and others is a significantly under-reported adverse drug event.
