Imervectin, an anti-parasitic, can have anti-viral effect

Carolyn Merchant Blog 0 0

Imervectin is an anti-parasitic, used to treat a variety of intestinal and skin parasites, in humans and animals. WHO considers Imervectin one of the safest and most important drugs in combating the global burden of disease.  In The Origin of Disease: The War Within, we said  Imervectin was one of the most underutilized drugs in medicine (Chapter 3, Page 67); and on 4/5/20 and 5/7/20, we posted about Imervectin and Covid-19, after laboratory testing suggested Imervectin was effective in killing…..

The skin can reveal infections within

Carolyn Merchant Blog 0 0

The skin is our largest organ, and can reveal secrets regarding our health. Moles and/or brown spots may indicate current or past infection that has erupted onto the skin, been transferred to the skin by self-inoculation, been transferred to the skin by devices, or be evidence of a past scabies infection that evolved into a mole. Pimples indicate an infection on the skin, often transferred by fingertips and devices; and acne may indicate an underlying chronic infection. When blood vessels…..

Treatment for acute covid19 could save lives and slow fear, while waiting for a vaccine

Carolyn Merchant Blog 0 0

Our hope is science will develop new methods to diagnose pathogens quickly, and the diagnosis of infectious pathogens will be implemented in routine medical practice. We hope for a method to quickly and easily diagnose covid19, that can be used in the home as quickly and easily as pregnancy tests; discovery of new anti-viral medications to treat covid19 and other serious viruses (which are in development); and a new understanding of how to develop vaccines quickly and efficiently to address…..

Similar prior viral infections may give partial protection against covid-19

Carolyn Merchant Blog 0 0

Past infection with viral pathogens that are closely related to covid-19 may provide limited protection against covid-19. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/06/health/coronavirus-immune-cells.html?referringSource=articleShare

Cytokines are created by immune cells and are a clue to co-infections in covid-19

Carolyn Merchant Blog 0 0

The immune system attacks pathogens in a series of programmed activities. Mast cells (a/k/a mastocyte or labrocyte) are the first immune cells to reach pathogens. Leukocytes (white blood cells, i.e. neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, eosinophils, basophils); and lymphocytes (T-cells, B-cells, natural killer cells), attack the pathogen, and transport the pathogen to the plasma cells. The plasma cells (a/k/a plasma B-cells, plasmocytes, or effector B-cells), are transported by the lymphatic system, and make and secrete large quantities of antibodies to specific pathogens……

Existing vaccines may provide partial protection in covid19

Carolyn Merchant Blog 0 0

We suggested in March and June of 2020 that studies and surveys be done to determine why children seem to be less effected by covid19, and that existing vaccines and other recent viral infections may provide partial protection against covid19. The Mayo Clinic has now reported one or more non-COVID, FDA-approved, readily available vaccines, may have some protective effect in covid19. Vaccines reported to have some protective effect included the MMR, the polio vaccine, the influenza vaccine, and the pneumonia…..
